How Acupuncture works for Pain

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique, more than 3,000 years old, that involves inserting thin, sterile needles into specific trigger points on the body, which work with the nervous system to reduce pain. While the concept of qi (energy) is rooted in ancient theory, modern providers understand Acupuncture through scientific neurobiological mechanisms, such as the release of endorphins, modulation of neurotransmitters, and changes in brain activity related to pain perception.
